Let Me Always Be With You

Today is my anniversary. Well, I do share it with my husband. Never in a million years would I have thought eight years ago as I was getting ready for our wedding that we would be here. I was twenty six, I thought all you needed to make a marriage work was love. I was naive.
We have had hard times. We moved twice, we had twins, we miscarried triplets, we had another baby, we lost my dad, we bought a house, we fell into terrible financial troubles, we lost faith in each other and gained it back plus some. Now we are preparing to leave our past and start a new beginning in another state.
Through it all we stood by each other, like we promised that we would do that first day of Autumn eight years ago.
I was confident that day I was marrying the right man.
I was right.

Happy Anniversary, baby. You are my lobster.

    Happy Anniversary!

Hey, I just stumbled on to your blog and got to read some of it. I read your entry Mothers and Daughters.

OMG--did that hit home with me. I have NEVER heard anyone say that their mother chooses their husbands side over them. MY MOM does that. I thought I was the only one in the world! She used to choose my boyfriends side over me also. One time my ex-fiance of 2 years wrote me a letter (what a coward)to break up w/me and my mother told me that I didn't treat him that nice anyway. I was devastated and hurt...my Mom just ignored it basically. I was so hurt, humiliated and embarrassed and my Mom just tried to ignore it if I talked too much about it. She hurt me so much BUT I still love her and know she loves me. Weird huh?

Anyway, thanks so much for that post. You helped me know I'm not the only one.

  5. Happy anniversary to you both. My husband and I will soon celebrate 14 years of marriage, and know very well a lot of what you speak of. Even in the hardest of times, I can't imagine going though the things we have without him. Hope you get to enjoy your day!

  9. You're a Phoebe fan! Congrats on your anniversary! It's true that marriage is work. You hear that going in but you just sort of brush it off. Love will make everything alright. Wrong. Love, work, patience and a willingness to say you're sorry make it work. This post was beautiful!

  10. Anyone who has said marriage is easy has never been married to their true love.

If marriage wasn't "work", it wouldn't have the rewards that go with it. Happy Anniversary.
