From Bad to Worse

So after a year long witch hunt by my husband's boss she finally got him a technicality and fired him yesterday. Fired him because of something stupid, something he told HR was going to happen because he knew for months she was out to fire him. HR didn't protect him and I had to pick him up like a dog on the side of the road yesterday after she ambushed him and confiscated his computer and car.
Right before Thanksgiving, knowing I am pregnant and we have 4 year old twins.

I have not one nice thing to say about this lady after I have been hearing for months what she says to him, how she talks to him and what goes on. She wanted the top salesman in her area fired because she didn't like that he knew what he was doing and didn't need her help every little step of the way.
he is a hard worker, never calls out sick and does his job very well, has even received awards, but I guess that doesn't matter. How did we know this was coming, well she has done it to his coworkers before.
It is taking everything I have not to go to her house and beat the crap out of her. Really.

Since neither of us have ever lost a job we had to figure out how to collect unemployment while I watch my husband push back tears wondering how he will buy Christmas gifts for his kids or how he can pay for my doctors visits.

I wonder how those things will happen too, but I have to be strong for him.

Does anyone want to hire a pregnant lady?

  1. That's awful. I'm so sorry.

  2. So sorry for all of you. Losing a job is bad enough, but right before the holidays is definitely worse. I hope he can find something soon.

  3. I'm assuming that since you say she caught him on a "technicality" there's no way to look at this as wrongful termination?

She wanted to hit him where it hurts but don't let her know that she succeeded.

Remember, the material things can be replaced or added. You still have two beautiful preschoolers and a healthy pregnancy to celebrate, and a husband who obviously adores you.

I hope things work out sooner rather than later and he sounds as if he'll land on his feet, and probably in a much better position.

  4. I'm a corporate dweller, and I've seen this BS time and time again. I know it's cliche for people to tell you it's blessing, but I bet it's a blessing. Everyone I know who was ever let go or laid off and who was a good worker has always always always moved on to better things, and I'm not making that up. Good luck! I don't think you'll need it, though, because good things are coming...

  5. Oh I am so sorry you guys. Karma I tell you- she will get hers. Big hugs and love from me

  6. That is just awful. I am so sorry this happened when it did.

Unemployment will be helpful until you guys can figure something out.

    Hang in there!!!!

    She'll get what's coming...

  7. I'm so sorry! That really sucks. Having lost a job before I know it's really easy (in NC atleast) to collect unemployment. I was even able to file from home.

In the mean time I'll keep a good thought for you guys. Hang in there!

  8. Wow. That sucks. I'll hope for the best for you guys to get through this without too much difficulty. Good luck!

  9. That's horrible. I am so sorry. Does he have any prospects he could pursue?

  10. What a bitch!!! That totally sucks and I'm soo sorry...right at holiday time too.....hope he finds something soon. He sounds like a good, hard worker and anyone would be lucky to have him.

  11. That is horrible! What a bitch! It sounds like he is a great worker, he'll get something before you know it.

  12. not sure how i stumbled upon your blog but read this entry and really wanted to say - i am sorry this happened, and it wont be easy but i hope it works out. stay strong, woman!

  13. I am so sorry. The timing is really awful. It sounds like you guys are doing the right thing and hopefully he will find a much better job with a decent boss soon!

  14. oh my God Tuesday, I just logged on to read this bullshit! That BITCH! I hate hate HATE people like her, and I was fired by one just like her when I was six months pregnant with my son! Nothing but job-getting mojo being sent oyur way. Things will get better. He IS the best and someone who really appreciates that WILL hire him!
