Food

Continuing our Thanksgiving theme this week, I want to know what is your favorite thanksgiving day foods? Is it the appetizer? Apple pie? Do you like your stuffing with fruit and nuts or traditional? Is there any strange thing you eat this day? Any recipe you want to share is welcomed too!

I loooove white trash green bean casserole. It is the only casserole I like, usually I hate foods all mushed together, but this I love.
I also heart this pumpkin cheesecake I make. I don't like pumpkin pie or muffins, but in this recipe it is to die for. YUM.

The only strange thing we have is lasagna for the non turkey lovers.

Well I love what my mother used to call "non-nutritional rolls" i.e. those crappy rolls that open up into four pieces that you can get at the market for 99cents/dozen. But my all time favorite is an old family recipe, cranberry pudding w/sugar sauce. It's like a bread pudding (you steam it) and the sauce makes the dish. Pure sugar...hmmmmmm.

I love the stuffing. Best part. It seems like that's the only thing we ever have that doesn't wind up as a leftover.. it's always all gone by the end!

  3. STUFFING! I could skip every other dish on the table and just pile my plate high with the sausage, macadamia nut and Hawaiian bread stuffing my husband makes... YUM!

  5. Jelly Salad. I know, sounds sketchy, but it's not, promise. Jello (red, whatever suits your fancy) and applesauce. The perfect palate cleanser.

  8. I live for pumpkin pie. It's the only time of year that I WILL eat it, and there are a couple dishes we hispanics save for just the holidays. One of them is called pasteles- where you mash up plaintains and yucca (i don't know that word in english) and you spread it open and stuff it with meat/olives/peppers, whatever you like, boil it till the plaintains and yucca are cooked and enjoy with your turkey! It might be an acquired taste for the hispanic household, but I drool just thinking about them!

  10. yummy-empanadas...you must have good friends who have introduced you to these foods...they should have you taste pasteles. You will like them if you like empanadas, it's basically the same thing just not fried.

And sweet potato pie, not pumpkin. Yum! I can't wait!
