Stupid Mistake

I am financially challenged for obvious reasons, so I decided to go and get a few things for the kids on Friday.
Yes, black Friday.
Yes, I am stupid.
E set the alarm for 5:30 and I woke up, dressed, put on some minimal makeup and drive to my local Target.
Worst. Mistake. Of. My. Life.

Those people were animals. I was not going near the electronic department but everyone else was and nearly shoved me down to get there faster then well, maybe me. Being visibly pregnant did not deter people from pushing their carts into my stomach, stepping over me and pushing. I was just there for a few toys, and these people acted like there was a pot of gold hidden somewhere in the store!
I will not do that again, those people made me sick.

Did you go out on black Friday? Is there a special something you do to not get trampled?

  1. nope! was out of town on Friday, so that made it easier to stay put.

Went out late afternoon Sunday. Still found some deals, but no traffic and no hassle.

But, I wasn't shopping for the end all be all gift either.

Just a garbage truck from CostCo. ;)

Were the sales at Target THAT good? I can't imagine anything on sale there. Hope you got what you needed!

  2. I refuse to do malls or large stores like Target, Wal-Mart, etc. I'll do little stores, like Radio Shack, and the drugstores like Walgreens, CVS, Rite-Aid. I can handle stand-alone little stores, but as far as crowds? No thank you. I also refuse to get out of bed at the ass crack of dawn just for a bargain, no matter how good.

I didn't get out at all on friday. There is no amount of money on the planet to entice me to shop those days.

  4. I sure did go out on Friday, have been doing that with my mom for YEARS!

We're up at 4am & out the door by 5. Hit Starbucks then off to Target. We don't even make an attempt at the electronics department. What I did this year was buy the MP3 player I wanted online on Thanksgiving from Sears.com. I didn't have to worry about getting trampled on, wasting my time in line to find out it was sold out or figure out how to be at two stores at the same time. I got the same sale price online & picked it up on Saturday instead!

  5. Black Friday. For the past 4 years, my wife and I have gotten up ridiculously early to go shopping.

Fortunately, we're never going shopping for anything particular that is being advertised...like the HDTV for $98 or an Xbox 360 for $75 or anything like that. We go for more of the blanket deal things like...jeans for $5 if purchased before 9am or 50% off advertised price if purchased before 10am.

We've never been trampled and have never not gotten something.

It's hard enough just navigating around those vultures. Never would I even dream of competing with them to get something.

  10. I hate that people trampled you! It's amazing how crazy people will act at the thought of a deal. We didn't have the guts to attempt the mall, but Target, WalMart and Sams weren't really that busy here.

  12. I went out on Black Friday to Babies R US and was in and out of that store by 9:00 in the morning. I had to fight a bit to get my own sales clerk but it was otherwise painless.
