Just found out that the preschool I want the Babies to go to costs $4100 a year PER CHILD for 5 half day classes.
I feel the blood rushing from my face.
Anyone want to buy some panties? Is it ethical to sell your panties to send your children to preschool? Should it be? Sold to the highest bidder.
Here we go, now the blood is coming back. It is wrong*. Definitely wrong to sell your panties to fund a private preschool. No two ways about it. Wrong wrong wrong.
*I will take this stance until someone offers me $4100 for a pair.

We had enrolled our oldest boy in a respected Montessori school two years ago... for him to start at age 3. Their tuition was $5,900 for five half-days in preschool, $11,795 for full days preschool, and $11,900 for kindergarten full-days. The joke was on us, however. The school was not a good match for Logan. And we also came to believe that what they said they did with the kids (initially) to get them acclimated to the Montessori system and what they did do were two different things. Long story and I'll spare you the details, but if you're considering a Montessori school, you may want to hear more. But maybe not.

Anyhow, Logan was asked to leave that school after just a few days. They felt he had behavior problems. In fact, the head-master said she was on the phone with other parents for a few hours because they feared for their kids's safety because of Logan. We agreed to withdraw Logan, with a full refund, because we felt they weren't holding up their end of the bargain.

THEN we enrolled Logan in the local public preschool. He was placed on an IEP because his speech was not developing the way it should.... that school had a nurse, a psychologist, a speech therapist, and well qualified preschool teachers. And after 6 weeks last year we all got together for a pow-wow about Logan... they had nothing but praise for him. Said he was doinang great. I went down the list of things the Montessori schools said he was doing that was a problem. Without exception, the teachers looked at me like they didn't know wtf I was talking about.

The difference in fit for Logan could not have been more obvious. He has done very well in the public preschool that costs maybe $4k per year for five half-day. That's right, even though it's staffed with public school teachers, in a public school building, etc., the preschool is technically private and parents pay the whole load to send their kids there. But the point is we learned the hard way that more expensive does not always equate to better quality or better fit for the kid.

Hopefully you have a better experience with the high-brow preschool than we did.
